Shangri-La KL Sports Day

Every now and then, the hotel has its activity days. Today, I was asked to judge the Shangri-La KL Sports Day. The whole hotel management & staff was divided into 8 car teams: Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Jaguar. Each team had to do a performance and judged through teamwork, coordination, creativity and tagline or theme. It was a fun day and out of the 5 judges, I was the only one laughing-while-coughing my heart out all through the competition. It was a a great way to see how fun our Shangri-La staff can be. Of course, our GM Mr. Jarlath Lynch was there to support all of them, making himself almost the host of the event as he makes his remarks.

Like the other judges, I picked Lamborghini as the winner because I love the spirit and the coordination. 2nd placer Ferrari spent a lot in costumes and props. But the Mercedes Benz's performance was the most fun of all. It was a great opportunity to judge the said event.

Vaccinated hump

Yesterday, we went for anti-Hepa vaccine, first dose. Thought I would be having a jab on my shoulder or my arm. But no. I was asked to pull down my pants and got a jab right onto my hump! It was a female nurs who did that. Therefore it retains the handful count of the opposite sex who has actually seen my naked butt! LOL.

A trip to Saujana & Vegas on Monday

You know what we did on our off? As you all know from my previous entries, I just had a relaxing day by the poolside on Monday afternoon. Had a dinner at the Lemon Garden with Marl before his solo performance. Brought my laptop at the lounge, tried to connect to any available WiFi I could get. To no avail.

At 9PM, met up with our friends from the band Peach Apple Tree for a night out. We were invited by a common guest. We went by 3 convoyed vehicles, there were 14 of us I guess. All girls went with Hussein on his Harrier. We went to Hyatt Saujana in Subang to watch our sister band, Beat Culture who were already on their last set. After their set, our guests wanted to have a karaoke session and so we went to Club Vegas and was ushered into a big private karaoke room. We had fun eating and drinking softdrinks and juices. I didn't touch any alcohol because I still wasn't well then. We stayed there until 3AM.

All's well

Apart from the stressful days I had last week, all's well now. I still have a bit of the flu virus but hope I will feel better by tomorrow.

It's my off today, but just chose to relax by the poolside, hoped to get tanned by the afternoon sun. No luck, it's already setting by now.

Marl MIGHT have gotten the virus, but hopefully not. If he has, I might have to help him tonight to get through the 2-sets he's set to perform on Monday nights. No problem with me as we can do lots of duets from our repertoire.

Quotation of the day

"When marrying, one should ask oneself this question:
Do you believe that you will be able to converse well with this woman into your old age?"
Friedrich Nietzche (1844-1900)

This is somehow true. I have known lots of couples who have ended up being bored of each other because of various reasons. Last week, I saw an old English couple at the lounge. I was sitting there doing my internet thing in the afternoon, as I watched this couple - in full 2 hours. The guy ordered a beer and the woman was having a cocktail. And they seldom talked. And they are just one of the couples I have observed in the past years.

If I live long enough to be with the man I love, I don't want to end up like those couples. I don't want to have a holiday and just end up sitting beside him without speaking a word. For now, I'll just cross the bridge when I get there.

Flu-ful

It has been hell of a week for me. I have been having bad flu (colds, clough & slight fever) since Tuesday. I'm just so thankful that I still could sing. Though tonight was the worst of all because it has gone down to my throat and it itches my throat in a middle of a song that I had to cough out in between songs, and worse, in between phrases and lines. At times I would try to control it and would end up with a red face and cough some more. Terrible. As usual, I was still on my element and did my best in each song that I sang. The energy level hasn't changed except for the occasional wheezing & coughing.

By the way, we had a great lunch at our friend's place today. Tita Myrna Webb cooked some Filipino dishes. Peach Apple Tree and URB enjoyed the sumptuous dishes prepared for us. Thanks Tita Myrna & TIto Geoff for accomodating us eventhough we couldn't talk nonstop. LOL.

Hope I'll get better over the next few days. And hope that the virus in the hotel will go away. If not, it will keep coming back and hit us again (knock on wood!).

It will be another rehearsal week for us since we have postponed the rehearsals last week because Jan and I were both sick. Crossing my fingers and hoping that I'll get better. :-)

Plan to tan

I've been out in the sun today. It was indeed really hot and the scorching sun was biting into my skin. I just splashed on some oil and went under the sun hoping for a tanner skin. Ten minutes after lying down to sunbathe, my sweat was already dripping down everywhere! It was a really damn hot day!

The result? Not so tanned. Will do it more next week. I'm beginning to love the sun!!!

At work, it was really busy. Lounge was full since the 1st set. Crowd was good. Lots of birthday celebrators tonight. I felt so sexily hot in my little black dress and literally hot in my curled set hair!

Sick & movin'

I'm down with a flu. Last night, I couldn't breathe because of nasal congestion and so I didn't have a good night sleep.

Shangri-La KL is running full right now and they asked us to move to another room, same floor. Will do that after work. Gotta start packing things up now. Luckily it's just a service lift away from our MarRitz Suite.

Vocally incapable

Well, kinda. Still can sing as usual, but the quality is not like my normal singing voice. It's a bit shaky because of the shifting of placement that I do because I'm scared my voice might just give up especially on high parts. So I had to change gears and apply some vocal techniques.

Been to the hotel clinic in the afternoon and was prescribed to take some medications, no antibiotics yet though. Hopefully I'll get better tomorrow.

After work, we were invited by our regular guest to... wherelse.... at the Crossroads... at the Concorde in KL! LOL. Instead of resting my voice, I got so excited to chat with my friends until 6AM. We were talking about funny stuff so I laughed and laughed amidst the chesty cough.

We have a lunch appointment later at 1PM. So I have to get my rest now. Hopefully I will feel better when I wake up. Hopefully.

Bad throats

Jan has been suffering from sore throat since Sunday. In fact, she lost her voice during our last set then. Luckily, it was our off the following day, she was able to take some vocal rest. She sounded fine during the first three sets on Tuesday, but her voice was playing up again during our last set.

As for me, my throat's been itching up since I got up on Tuesday afternoon. It worsened through the night and now I'm scared that I might have the same thing with Jan.

Mind you, we don't french kiss at all! LOL

Updates

  • Couple new funny videos at the bottom of MY VIDEO page.

Still trying to beat my brains out for new layout and theme for my website. Want to integrate Java and Macromedia Flash but still don't have the time for it. Maybe in 2010! LOL.

Turning Vegetarian

Yes I am. Actually this is my 1st week-sary of being a vegetarian. So far, I've been practising being a goat or horse for a week now and I think I'm doing great. Eating mostly vegetables and fruits, I am satisfied that I still can take my addictive indulgences such as coffee and chocolates.

I'm not doing this because I want to lose weight. In fact, I miss my fleshy thighs and 5 kilo butt! LOL.

The reason why I decided to be a vegetarian is because I was convinced by Marl. Marl has been a TOTAL VEGAN for almost 2 months now and so far... he's still ahmm... talking. I thought that he would moo like a cow or me-eh-eh-eh like a goat after a month. Worst is if I'd wake up in the morning and see a horse lying beside me with some grass on its mouth!!! LOL.

Vegetarians take plant-based stuff and are still allowed to have dairy products, eggs and even fish and other seafood. Vegans are strict vegetarians who only eat plant-based stuff. No cheese, milk and egg at all. In short, they're not even like horses! So I guess Marl is safe. LOL.

Taking this challenging journey with us since Monday last week were Jan, Arlyn (my ex-co-singer) & Hafiz (her husband). But Arlyn failed last Saturday who was biting her finger from getting a piece of a chicken wing from Papa Jamal & Mama Siah's birthday party.

Wish me luck. I hope I can last...
Where the heck are my Ferrero Rocher's?!?!

Happy B-day Papa Jamal & Mama Siah!

It was a week-long preparation. Planning a surprise party is more taxing than a normal one. You've got to think of plan A & plan B. You've got to visualize what will happen. You've got to really surprise the person you wanted to surprise!

My ex-co-singer Arlyn sought my help for the party. I helped in planning and printing works while she took care of buying the things that we need. Jan helped us in decorating the birthday banner. Arlyn's brother Aries helped in manually pumping the balloons. Marl did his part by having our "adopted" parents' pic developed and shopped for a frame, too. Hafiz, Arlyn's husband, lend his hand as well.

We pre-arranged everything with the hotel: the food, the drinks and the private section where we will host the party. Their kids took the initiative to invite the friends of their parents. The staff also made their part for giving complimentary cakes and sparkling wines.

Everything was already set and the main purpose is to surprise Papa Jamal mostly who would turn 50. Mama Siah is couple years younger. And yes, they have their birthday on the same date! Seldom that you can find lasting couples like them who share the same birthday.

Guests came before 9PM and by the time Papa Jamal and Mama Siah came, it was 30 minutes later. They were surprised with the setup that the hotel prepared. So plan A came out just right. We've got another surprise for them, though. At midnight, we gathered their kids and all their "adopted" kids (like us) behind the stage to prepare the unexpected surprise. We had flowers, 3 cakes, gift and the big banner that we have made for them. Mama Siah was in tears when we were singing the birthday song for them. That gesture definitely surprised them!

(The "Mano Po" Cast - Malaysian Sequel) LOL

After our set, we just mingled with them. When all of them already went back home, the 3 of us went to Concorde. And yes, again, they asked me to sing! Shucks! Can I ever go to Concorde and relax after working for once?!? Maybe if I come unidentified. And being unidentified means having my hair shaven. Which hair it is will be up to you and your silly imagination. LOL.

We finished the night off with a light supper of Mee Sedap. Of course, check mails and check for any signs if Shangri-La Resident a.k.a. Resident Evil or Chickened Hater is lurking around on my website. And yes is the answer! Bloody coward! Hahahaha!

Back to rehearsing

Since Selena arrived last month, we haven't practised much except for songs that we really needed to sing. But now that she's back to school in Manila, we've also resumed rehearsing songs. We have lots of songs to check out. I'm doing an Enya and an Arabic song this weekend. Need to memorize them because I don't like looking at the lyrics.

Watch out for the 2007 pictures. I'm still halfway through it...

A close(r) encounter with Il Divo

We were in our slumber at noon when we got a call from the F&B department to tell us that they actually wouldn't need us to perform at the lobby lounge at (Tuesday) night. There's no necessity anymore. Okay, well, they agreed to let us play for just a set for the night. Because they have something even better and bigger for us... to play for Il Divo's After-Concert party at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.

Il Divo just had their successful (and expensive) one-night concert at the KLCC Plenary Hall. It was well-attended by the big spenders in KL. Shangri-La sponsored an After-Concert party and asked us to play some cocktail music while the rich people tried to mingle with each other.

We performed for an extra long set from 11:30PM just as the guests were arriving from the said concert. The Il Divo's made some very short appearances, taking time to take a photo with the ladies clad in their expensive gowns and taking turns for their photo op. All these were happening before our very eyes. There were even a couple of times when our General Manager Mr. Lynch had to go to the stage and grab the microphone from me to stop the guests from scaring the Il Divo away. But to no avail.

After our show at the ballroom, we didn't even hope to even see the Il Divo after the guests scared them away. I gave up hope to even take some pictures with them. So we packed up our things to bring back to the lounge (Marl literally had to bring his keyboard & stand & everything that came with it during functions).

Just as we were walking into the lounge, we spotted 2 of the Il Divo's, Sebastien (French) & Carlos (Spanish). We were actually shy and just glanced at them at a distance. But Sebastien raised his hand to call us, HE INVITED US TO COME OVER TO THEIR TABLE!!! And hell we did! They were seated with the organizers of the concert (Arianna Teoh & co.) and the musical director Gary Wallis. First I was shy. But they insisted to let us join them. I also took the rare opportunity to take some pictures with them. In fact, with almost everyone at the table.

Carlos was the funny and outgoing guy. But Sebastien, aside from being the most favored by the ladies, was really nice, too. He was the one entertaining us and he talked to us for like half an hour, asking about the Philippines. They'd be going there after Singapore.

Moral lesson: Keep dreaming. Don't give up.

Update: Here are few of the pics we took with them. Don't hate me, I'm just a playah! LOL

BY THE WAY, just so you know... I was acting kinda cool & sophisticated in front of them. Like hangin' out with normal friends. But when I reached the room, I had a delayed reaction. I screamed and giggled like a highschool girl! Hahahahaha!

Check out this writeup about Il Divo's concert on WMW's Blog! Fab pix too!

December pix updated

The December Gallery has been updated though I'm creating separate galleries for Xmas '06 and New Year's Eve '06. So watch out for that! Very very soon!

Unwinding

Something happened an hour ago that I'd rather not talk about. It involved an arrogant woman who mistreated us. Us being Jan, Marl & I. But never mind. Don't want to dwell on it.

We're here at Starbucks KLCC, waiting for Arlyn, my previous co-singer. We're planning to do something for our common friend. I've just eaten at Burger King & had a Haagen Dazs ice cream.

Nway, we'll be going back to the hotel after the meeting. Then maybe we'll watch the new Filipino band at the Concorde Hotel after Marl's set.

In safe hands

I can't believe that as I was anxiously waiting for her arrival in Manila... I dozed off in my couch!!! That's how tired I've been. In fact, my sleep was undisturbed until noontime. I called my mom as soon as I opened my eyes and was told with funny stories about her arrival. My brothers Andrew and Shoti (Christopher) surely missed pissing her off. Lucky for Selena, the 2 had to go to school.

Now, she's in safe hands. I don't need to worry. And I'm glad that it made my mom absolutely happy. It's heart-warming to hear her laugh again.

Not yet arrived

Called my mom just now who is at the airport and was told that the flight is delayed. The plane should reach Manila at 5:15AM. I'm as anxious as my mom!

A tear for her

If her flight was on time at 1:10AM, she might be above Kuala Lumpur aboard the Cebu Pacific flight. But I think there was 20-30 minutes delay. Luckily, my friends are on the same flight, too - the Vision 5 band (former Music Mates) and couple other musicians. I'm quite relieved that somebody can look after her on the flight.

I felt sorry that I coudn't take time off from work to bring her to the airport. Nanay Susana, our godmom, took the initiative to bring her to the airport. She left just before we started our 2nd set. She looked cute in her pigtails and new wardrobe. She was just carrying a pink Barbie trolley bag and a Barney bagpack.

I was so emotional since the first set and kept holding back my tears. But when she hugged me and "pretended" to cry, I just lost it and broke down infront of our friends who were there (Arlyn & husband Hafiz, Papa Jamal & Mama Siah & Nanay Susana). So far, her recent holiday has been the best quality time we've ever spent with her. I am proud to say that I really looked after her and since she's growing up as an independent girl, she helped me a lot in different ways.

Selena has touched lots of lives during her 25 day stay here in Kuala Lumpur. She has brought happiness into our lonely lives. She has made people adore her by her wits and talents. Oh and that infamous WHISTLE, too!

Leaving soon

I just finished sorting out her things. She has got lots of things since she arrived 24 days ago! Selena will be going back to Manila on a 1AM flight on Monday but she will be leaving the hotel around 10PM tomorrow... oopsss, tonight I mean. It's already Sunday morning! Which means I only have few more hours to spend with my unica hija who is sleeping on MY bed right now. She didn't want to sleep on her bed because she said, she will be missing Mommy so much when she goes back to Manila. :-(

Packing her stuff

The following days will be very hard for me. In fact, when I got up today, I saw my princessette's bag & it reminded me to pack her stuff. She will be leaving in a couple of days. I need to pack her stuff as early as now so that I can buy her a bigger bag if her stuff doesn't fit in. But also, there's Forex cargo to ship her accumulated stuff during her 25-day stay holiday in KL. She's actually on her bed writing a card for us (pic taken a few minutes ago).

Couple more days...

Selena will be going back to Manila in a few days time. So I'm spending the best quality time I can ever give her. She's such a darling and everyone just adores her. However, I will have more time to edit/upload pictures after she leaves. More videos, too.

Il Divo is in town!!!

Il Divo who???

You might have been leaving in the caves and forests if you don't know them. They're the hottest pop/opera crossover band in the whole wide Earth right now! And they're here in Kuala Lumpur for a one-night-only performance at the KLCC Plenary Hall on the 16th of Jan, 2007.

But the BEST THING is they're staying at the Shangri-La Hotel. In fact, tonight was their official welcome party at the lounge, wherein they closed the VIP section just for the entourage. I only met 3 Il Divo singers namely David, Sebastien & of course, Carlos. Urs didn't come for the welcome gala but hope I can meet them altogether again.

Tonight, the entourage listened & watched us perform from the 1st set. The ever beautiful Arianna Teoh, former Miss Malaysia and wife of famous race driver Alex Yoong and also a good friend of mine, is the one who organized the event. She's very good at it.

The concert is on the 16th of January. But since we won't be able to watch them, we were offered the chance of a lifetime - to watch their rehearsals on the 15th. So we'll just wait and see whether we'd go there to watch them rehearse, and hopefully I can take a few good pictures of them and with them!

Anyway, they'll be at the lounge eeeevery night till the 16th so let's see what happens...

Blog on Anti-Sarita

My sis Linty from Perth and CK best chatbuddy Aubzie blogged about the recent cyber issue "Anti-Sarita" with one of my haters. Check them out at the ff sites:

Off day well spent

Our trip to Genting on Monday was one of the moments I will treasure forever. It was well spent with people I love and people I enjoy being with. I was with my princessette Selena, Marl, Jan, and Peach Apple Tree's Chona, Sarah & Wacky.
(Marl, Wacky, Jan Sarah, Chona, Sarita & Selena @Monorail station, 10AM)
Aside from having fun, it was also cheap for us. We only paid RM26 each person for the trip (excluding the food & other miscellaneous stuff) because we availed the Genting Golden Package. The RM26 package included:
  • Return Genting Express Bus Transfer
  • Return Genting Skyway Transfer (cable car)
  • One meal OR Weekday Genting Outdoor Theme Park Unlimited Ride Pass (of course, we chose the unlimited ride pass)
We had to get our passports from the hotel (who took our passports to extend our working permit). We rode the KL Monorail to KL Sentral at 10AM. We secured our tickets at the Genting Express counter at KL Sentral and took brunch at KFC. We boarded the 11AM bus and it took an hour to reach the lower Skyway Transfer station. It was quite a long walk from the station to the outdoor theme park but by 1PM, we were already inside the park. It was foggy though.

Like me, she's also a thrill seeker at her young age. Selena enjoyed her rides although she couldn't ride on most of the thrill rides she wanted to. We took turns in accompanying her in some of the rides. I was the loner of the pack because every one got their buddies: Selena & Chona, Marl & Wacky, Sarah & Jan. And among the girls, I am the only brave one to try the Space Shot and Flying Coaster with Marl. The videos were quite hilarious which I will upload on My Videos page soon.

Marl, Selena and I went to Snow World. Selena wanted to experience how winter is like. We took some good (yet expensive) pictures, too. We missed our 4:30PM bus so we just had snack with the musicians we met there (friends of Peach Apple Tree). We tried to get on the 6PM bus back to KL but there was only one seat left. Since Marl had to work on a Monday night, he went ahead while we waited for the 6:30PM bus.

We reached KL (Pekeliling) at 7:40PM and was fetched by JP's driver to go to his condo. We had dinner and had a few glasses of wine as we battled each other in a MagicSing karaoke session. It was rather fun because we didn't have voices from lack of sleep and screaming in Genting. I did my funny acts to everyone's amusement. And all the girls (Chona, Sarah, Jan, Selena & I) battled each other with a goal to score the lowest which was 00! All of us except Jan got 00 with a caption on the screen "Try singing?", LOL. Jan had to even work harder to reach our 00 status! Hahaha! The driver picked Marl up from Shangri-La after his work to join the fun. We finished the evening off at past 1AM. When we reached the hotel, the bed looked like a chocolate dessert I could feast on. Selena and I fell asleep at 2AM.

The day was really well spent with the people I love to hang out with. When Selena goes back in a few days time, I will surely miss the fun that we had when she's around... It's fun to be a kid sometimes!

Wish for fun

Have to sleep early for a fun off day tomorrow. Because we are going to.... dannndararannnnnn... GENTING! Yipeeeee! Not only that. We are going with our dear friends from Peach Apple Tree and Vision5 bands. We are intending to take the Genting package day trip which would cost only RM26 per person. That would include the bus ride from KL Sentral, the Genting Skyway (cable car) ride, and a choice between a lunch pack or an outdoor theme park pass. I'd go for the pass. That's the reason why we are going there. Doesn't matter if I get hungry tomorrow... just can't wait to ride the thrill rides! Wooohoooo!

Anti-Sarita

I'm not surprised to have one of my haters to sign my website's shoutout box and guestbook to talk about my so-called ego. That chicken-hater cowardly signed in as "Shangri-la resident" and basing on my highly technological gathered information, I'd like to drop in a guess and label the gender as a SHE. Although it might have been a collaboration of both genders. LOL.

Here's what was written on my guestbook:
Shangri-la Resident: I was sorry to see that your website reflected your over-inflated ego.... (January 5, 2007 7:22PM)

And here's what she wrote on my shoutout box:
Shangri-la resident: I didn't realise your ego was quite so large !!! I feel sorry for you. (January 5,2007 7:44PM)

My regular visitors who were laughing about her sleazy comment, calls her "chicken hater". But I guess, "chickened hater" is more appropriate. She doesn't know that whenever she logs in or lurk on my site, her IP address is recorded. Every click and interval is recorded. In fact, yours too. But I'm not a nosy-parker to know who my visitors are unless I'm triggered to.

I don't know why, for some reason, that she doesn't know how actually to read properly. Maybe she's dyslexic. Or maybe worse. Because she missed the part when I clearly stated on my frontpage that this page is all about me. Maybe she was looking for something about her. LOL

Here are my favorite comments from me and my avid supporters following chickened-hater's sleazy one:

Sarita Carreon: WOW! i've got a HATER in d haus! welcome! :-) thanks for ur comments, quite sleazy though, u could have done better than that. guess what? the feeling's mutual. i also feel sorry for you coz you're such a COWARD signing my guestbook & shoutbox using "shangrila resident", but not revealing ur real name WHEN I KNOW EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE and WHERE YOU WERE WHEN YOU SIGNED IN because I have traced you! funny that ur not even at any shangrila property at d moment when u signed my guestbook!!! hahaha! can you believe the technology?!? in fact, i even know how many times you've LURKED around! oh and because you are on red alert, i even know that you are viewing this right now because u're curious how i'd comment, right? you messed with d wrong girl, pal! KAILA KO KUNG KINSA KA OY!!! magpakatotoo ka! Bwahahaha!

AUBZIE: Ay! Wow! Hater ng CK ko! hahahaha You are indeed messin' w/ d wrong gurl... plus, messin' with sarita, means messin' with the circle... you may be a coward for not revealing yourself but that's fine, just don't be stupid enough to continue messin' around... kasi kung hindi... away na to lord! hahahaha

urb: hahahaha! kala ko ikaw hater ko CK! hahaha! yeah dats right... napapaligiran na kita! hahaha! to all u players out there... beware! nyahahaha!

Apple: (in tagalog) Saring... hala tira! Buti nga sa kanya! Hahahaha! Tawang-tawa ako diyan kay Shangri-la Resident na'yan. Nyahahaha! Siguro pagkabasa niya nang respond mo sa shout out niya... nanginginig siya sa takot. Nanananana! Naiinggit lang 'yan SAring. Favor naman... email mo sa akin kung sino siya. Hehehe! Baka sabihin mong nakikisawsaw ako ha. Sige na ha! Share mo naman. Curious lang!

lintyho: Sis Ritzz, aren't u glad as well that u have both admirerS & "A chicken hater"? that doesn't mean ur ego is large BUT it meant ur personalities are too outstanding until it hit someone whom is such "low". Doesn't matter if u don't understand me. Just want u to know it won't change my support & my love to u and URB band. Stay pretty & vibrant. Muaaahhhh****

sarita: hahahaha! my sis linty, i even thought at one time that that chicken hater was talkng abt my LEGO! hahaha! i was supposed to say dat d LEGO's not mine, it's selena's! hahaha! thought it was d glass of red wine dat tricked my eye. thats why i had to wait til i got sober & confirm that its actually my EGO that ! hahaha!

upset supporter: msg 4 Shangri-la Resident aka "chicken hater": why do u have problem with lovely Sarita's website that reflected her own ego? only smart and brilliant lady like her can create this website that full of hi-tech knowledge. dont mess with her. she's tracing u and hunting u.... errmmm and haunting u... LOL. she's just sharing her life with us but if u dont care, just buzz off and get a life of your own!!!

sarita: wooohooo! ''upset supporter's'' on my side. where my posse at?!? can we get the whole pack of union in??! LOL. u know what? i just found out that these posts can easily be tracked. even the lurkers, with a bit of decoding, i wud know who they are. ahihihihi! this is fun!

My last message to Shangri-la resident a.k.a. Chickened-hater:

You think you're smart. But think again. Better yet, think a gazillion times. Because the opposite of what you think you are is the only thing that can kill you. Softly and gently. LOL. And stop pretending to be my friend. Or stop pretending to be somebody you are not. Better yet, stop pretending! LOL. Again, to get this straight, your IP address is already recorded and logged on every page of this site and it is submitted to your ISP PLDT Vibe. I suggest you get a broadband or something and quit using dialup to diss me on the net. It's insulting to me. And it tickles my spine knowing that you lurk around my site. LOL. However hard you try, you won't find anything about you on this site except your alter-ego called "chickened hater". If you don't stop bugging me, I will have to call PLDT Vibe to report your inappropriate usage! Gotchaaaaaa!!! Tell me if you can't understand my not-so-perfect grammar in English, I can easily translate it to you in Tagalog! LOL.

Clogged

Our toilet bowl is kinda clogged for 2 days now. It would still flush but the water doesn't stop running from filling the tank. No, actually, the tank wouldn't get filled at all. I don't know what's it called. Hahaha! I'm not a plumber, I'm a singer! LOL. So maybe, we will move rooms again because of this! When will all these movings stop?!?

Busy doin' nothing much

After New Year, I just decided not to pressure myself to keep up with updates for my website. Sorry guys. Just have to really relax my mind. For the first time, I swam with my little mermaid. I hate to swim but luckily, my princessette always give me the right company I've always been looking for. We've been recording, too. My princessette's 2nd recording, that is! Don't worry, I will post it as soon as I got it all mixed.

Besides, the damn dialup at 24.6kbps is killing me! But luckily, my friend Wayne is staying at the Pacific Regency and shared his WiFi account with me. I just discovered that if my cheek splats against the window, I can actually get the "very low" signal of WiFi from Pacific Regency apartments.

For the photos that everyone's been asking about, they are on the process of screening. And prepare your eyes for feasting because I've got TONS of pictures to upload for the holiday seasons 2006!

New Year's Eve 2006 at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

It was our 5th New Year's Eve party at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur for the past consecutive years. And it was just as equally successful and grand as the past new year's eve parties we had. Well almost.

For the 3rd consecutive year, Zang Toi, a famous local designer label, has sponsored 2 of the 3 dresses we intended to wear for the event. And for the 5th year, the hotel has sponsored our hairdo's. And for the 3rd year, I was the emcee/host for the night.

Let me run you through our docket on that special day/night:

December 31, 2006

2:00 AM. In the room, we were practising the songs that we intend to play for the party. Aside from playing some of the favorites we used to sing every night, we have a repertoire solely for the special night.

3:00 AM. Dyed our roots. Our hair has already grown and therefore had to touch up the roots.

4:00 AM. We had our final costume fitting, making necessary adjustments and minor alterations.

5:00 AM. Went to bed and had a relaxing sleep until 2PM. Selena slept over at my friend's place (Papa Jamal).

3:30 PM. Soundcheck. Brought down our shoes. Had to practice trotting on my new 4-inch stilettos (they almost killed me!)

5:30 PM. Went to the hotel's hairdresser to do our hair. I also did my makeup by myself while waiting for my hair to be set. I am more comfortable doing it by myself. It's therapeutic for me, as well.

7:00 PM. Had a quick dinner. Did some finishing touches on my makeup. And wore the long songket gown by Zang Toi. Mine was a checkered red and white tube gown with long train at the back that is drawn on the floor and decorated with beautiful small red flowers on the waistline. It was so heavy that I had to wear a transparent strap attached to it to avoid faux pas. Jan's was a checkered purple and white 2-piece of long ball skirt and long sleeves, fastened by a belt. Marl looked dashing and so handsome in his black tuxedo with silver bowtie.

7:45 PM. We were already downstairs. Same setup as last year. The lobby has been turned into an exclusive fine dining mini concert hall, our 360 degree round stage was on top of the fountain. Meanwhile, the lobby lounge where we usually perform at has a big dancefloor and a widescreen on top of the stage which feeds whatever is happening inside the exclusive area.

8:00 PM. We were supposed to do the opening act, but the place was still half-filled with guests so we delayed it for 30 minutes.

8:30 PM. We finally did the opening gambit after waiting for 30 minutes. We sang slow songs but not too dragging as easy listening songs. Say Il Divo's and jazz?

9:00 PM. Time to do my job as an emcee as I facilitated the first lucky draw for the night. We gave out 7 out of the 22 prizes. All complimentary accomodations in different Shangri-La properties, it only differed in location.

9:30 PM. DJ took over while Jan and I changed to our 2nd costume. It was a black coat up until above our knees, fastened by a silver belt, and a black hat with a silver ribbon. Underneath it all was a baby doll songket dress sponsored by Zang Toi, also checkered. People didn't really like it because we looked like wearing potato sacks, eventhough it showed our legs & thighs as we twirl. But sad to say for the pervs, we were in black stockings!

10:00 PM. 2nd lucky draw with another 7 prizes. People were already in a better mood after filling up their stomachs.

10:15 PM. DJ music. Time to get rid of the funny-looking baby doll songkets. We changed into something that's elegant and sexy which we bought for the party. It's black and sprinkled with gold dusts that flowed up until above our knees. We still kept the black stockings because we were sure that there'd be a peek-a-boo when we turn or twirl.

11:30 PM. By this time, the DJ has already worked up the dancing crowd. But had to cut them off to do our last lucky draw for the final 7 major prizes. I had lots of fun doing my hosting job. I was more relaxed and confident, because most of the guests were our regular guests. The major prize was a complimentary accomodation with breakfast at the Shangri-La Dubai plus return ticket to/from Kuala Lumpur sponsored by Emirates Airlines.

11:45 PM. We were up onstage for our 3rd and final set. We managed to work the dancing crowd. The lobby lounge's dancefloor was also busy. At this time, the curtains surrounding the whole exclusive area have been opened so anyone can join the party.

January 1, 2007 - H A P P Y N E W Y E A R !

12:00 AM. We welcomed the year 2007 with a blast! And with Auld Lang Syne of course. Black and silver balloons fell from the ceiling as everyone hugged their loved ones. It was a very special moment I will always remember. The happiness on the people's faces was definitely priceless and incomparable. We were shout-singing at the top of our voices amidst the noise, shouting and balloon popping.

12:10 AM. Our job was done. DJ took over and tried to work the crowd who were left high from our music. The crowd definitely wanted more of the URB. After about 30 minutes of dancing to the irrelevant songs the DJ has played, the DJ was turned down by the people who left the dancefloor. Don't get me wrong. People thought the DJ played the music just for himself, for his musical satisfaction. I mean, a DJ has to be sensitive to what the people want to dance with. Most of the crowd were middle-aged and old. And he played Shakira's Hips Don't Lie (Bamboo), a live version from the FIFA World Cup 2006, for 5 times! We played the song as well, so the crowd definitely must have had a hangover from the song itself!

12:20 AM. I wanted to dance some more and so I did my solo dancing performance on the dancefloor of the lobby lounge, much to the audience's delight. I didn't care. I just danced by myself. To hell with the cameras pointed at me, I was definitely having the time of my life - without a drop of alcohol - YET!

1:30 AM. It's such a shame that by this time, the dancefloor was empty. And the people dancing were all gone both from the dancefloor and from their seats. I even saw a housekeeper sweeping the floor! Wish we could have gone back onstage to save the night. But as were were told, our job was done. And by this time as well, the champagne glasses I've been bottoming up has finally gotten over me, which left me to want more partying.

2:00 AM. Went to The Pub to witness the last songs of D'Adza band. It was their last night and they had their own partying crowd. It was good and they're really good. Hats off. I also drank champagne. Suddenly, Jan exited to go to the toilet. I didn't have any idea that she was already drunk!!! She definitely ain't much of a drinker.

2:20 AM. Looking for Marl who I lost along the way from The Pub, it led me back to the Lobby Lounge which was already quiet. I got engaged in a strange conversation with a 60 year old lady called Karen at the bar of the lobby lounge. She seemed like someone who would just appear when you least expect her to. The strange conversation resulted to a friendly chat over another kind of drink. I felt like she's the older version of Ally McBeal, the crazy lawyer!

2:30 AM. Marl and I had to assist Jan to her room. She's been throwing up and didn't want to go anywhere anymore, so we just left her in the room. Marl and I went to Concorde to party with the bands. I saw Dawn, a daughter of our regular guest, who became a good friend. Hussein was also there, the old guy who fancied me so much and told other singers that he would marry me in my next life! LOL. He's a friend and I admire his courage for blatantly saying those things. He opened a bottle of champagne for me - which, really GOT ME! In just 30 minutes, my world spun around and my tongue lost its muscle control for comprehensible speech! Next thing I knew I was onstage with the band who asked me to sing, but the words were not coming out right from my mouth! All I did was indistinct uttering of the lyrics! Lucky for me, I know the people there, from the staff to the managers. They know me. Except that night, maybe! LOL.

3:30 AM. Headed up to the rooms of the band at Concorde. I was so drunk and still wanted to dance that I actually danced inside their room! I've been babbling non-sense stuff as the alcohol took over me. And I passed out somewhere along the way.

7:00 AM. Was only woken up by Marl from slumberland. It was time for us to go back home. My new friend Dawn and Marl had to assist me as I walk on my 4-inch stilettos half-asleep. I don't know how Marl managed it. Or should I say, how Marl managed me! LOL

2:00 PM. Tried to open my eyes but I couldn't. I was definitely awake with a banging hangover, but still couldn't open my eyes. Then I realized that I hadn't remove my makeup from last night!!! It was actually my mascara that got my lashes stuck up! Hahaha!

And for the first time in years, I had an off on the first day of the year!!! I was lucky to have an off, but not for Marl. My poor darling! Spent the afternoon strolling in KLCC with my friend Dawn. Enjoyed it. Selena came back by dinnertime. Just had a relaxing evening afterwards.

It was definitely THE evening you didn't want to miss. Or you wish you hadn't missed. Including the drunken me! LOL. Happy New Year y'all!

First blog for 2007

Happy New Year everyone!

2006 was certainly a great year for me. I was able to fix my hernia, had a good contract in our country (played at the Mactan Island Shangri-La in Cebu), enjoyed my good health on top of all.

I also made some new friends in addition to my BIG circle of fabulous people. I have reconciled with people I need to make up with. Also, I was able to forgive people who have done me wrong.

But every good thing has its counterpart. And that's losing my stepdad just before Christmas. My family has gotten over it but they couldn't get over hat the legal/first family did to them at the wake when they went to pay their last respect. It broke my heart to know that they could do it to my mom & my two half-brothers. But I am forgiving those ruthless people and members of the first family of my stepfather, just not wholeheartedly. I just pray that God will give them wisdom to enlighten them and make them realize what they had done.

I thank God for making me wiser and smarter by giving me enough trials I have managed to surpass. It has therefore made a more matured and stronger person. I thank God for the many blessings that endlessly come my way. I thank God for giving me a good life to touch others'. Also for the talent to share to people who would appreciate His gift.

This year 2007 is something I am looking forward to, like a fresh beginning for everything, especially my family. Hope it will bring better things for everybody, too! Happy New Year!
