Ooops!

Sorry for the multiple posts of "prolific". There was a problem with the connection. Will do something about it once I get back to the hotel. Am still in Talisay, blogging thru GPRS. Hehehe!

UPDATE: Deleted the multiple posts of "prolific", thanks a lot for informing me, too, anonymous!

Drive-thru & drop-by

Was on the way to Talisay when we decided to drive through Jollibee to get some burgers for dinner. We also decided to drop by the Waterfront to watch our friend at the lobby. The stage isn the balcony on the 2nd floor, that's how high their stage is. That beats our stage in Shangri-La KL. Not actually a stage coz it's a balcony with balcony railings.

Prolific

Woke up at 11AM today. Had a dimsum lunch at the Ayala Mall with our new singer, Janise, with her co-singer in her present band, Kring-Kring, and her boyfriend Randy. After lunch, we just strolled around the mall then we dropped off Kring-Kring in Colon where she can catch a ride home. We sent Janise home and met up with her parents. It was kinda hard to remember where she lives because there were lots of turns going to it, but we finally reached there and rested for a while before we decided to go back to Shangri-La before 6PM.

Since we started moving around two weeks ago, I stopped doing my daily yoga and Pilates. The lack of rest due to the construction going on in the Ocean Wing contributes to it - a lot! So lately, I've been feeling a bit bloated for eating too much I guess. How on earth can you resist the delectable dishes from the daily buffet lunch and dinner?!? I'm not really a big eater... except when I'm in the Philippines. I miss my mom's cooking, too.

Oh well, I did my Pilates and yoga this evening in the room. There's no quiet space at the gym for me to do those things because they made use of the activity room where they used to have yoga, Pilates and other cardio workouts. But I went to the gym to have a steam bath and a dip in the jacuzzi. It could have been better if I was sipping champagne... hmmm....

Let's talk about hair removal. I once used a depilatory cream in China before and I ended up having skin irritations because I used it for more than what it's intended time of use - 10 minutes. Because it was a Chinese brand and the English instructions explained in a broken English way, I ended up with pores slightly bleeding. And it scared me eversince.

Today, bought a Veet hair removal cream. I was hesitant to use it but since it's an internationally known brand, I gave it a try - on my bikini line. And hmmm... it worked! No bleeding or irritation - as of this moment. Indeed, a product I would recommend all of you who are into plucking, shaving and painful waxing.

We're going back to our house in Talisay tonight to arrange the boxes and stuff we got there. Maybe we'll sleep over there, maybe not. It depends. Marlou wants to send the van for auto repair tomorrow. So that means no going out after work this week.

The search is over

At last, we've already finalized the new member of the URB Band to replace Brice. Her name's Janise, 21 years old and take note - a licensed teacher! She will start working with us after our contract here in Cebu.

We will go back to Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur on October and we're all looking forward to it. Although there are lots of changes now, I heard. Our favorite GM, Mr. Richard Riley, has left and is replaced by the former GM of Edsa-ShangriLa Plaza in Manila. He's changing the concept in the lobby now. He doesn't want micro-minis with black underpants being seen. LOL.

So now, URB Band is repackaging for a new style. Not really new style, because we kinda had the same style in Shanghai. Elegant and classy. Of course, if it's not a bit coquettish, it's not Sarita. So bet you're still gonna experience Saritaciousness! LOL (What a word!) LOL

Jump!

That's what I did on the bed just now. Marl was shocked and asked me why. I just turned on my PC before I jumped on the bed. I bet you also want to know why, huh? I found out something interesting. It's not even just interesting, it's the greatest DISCOVERY I found out!

MY LAPTOP FOUND A FREAKIN' WIFI SIGNAL FROM OUR ROOM!!!

Not that blazing fast, but at least, it still can be accessed. Ohhhhhh I love this room! I hope they won't ask us to move out right away. The room has minor flaws anyway like the crack on the marble top on the bathroom sink. There's also a crack on one of the bathroom tiles underneath the sink. Wouldn't be such a big shame if they'd sell this to a CEO of a big company? Oh yes, i would be. So maybe tonight, I'd rather start scratching the walls with my sharpened nails and bite the furnitures with newly brushed teeth just like a mad dog! Hahaha! Just pray that you won't be the one who will stay here because I'm gonna put a python snake underneath the bed. Then, the hotel will just give it away for us to stay in forever! Hahaha!

What tree are you?

This email has already circulated the inboxes for years now. I received it again today. On the mail, you will find out what tree you are by based on your birthday. My birthday is September 29, so I found the bracket "Sept. 24 to Oct. 3" and it says I'm a Hazelnut Tree. And here's what it says about me which is totally true... totally!
Hazelnut Tree (the Extra ordinary) -- charming, sense of humor, very demanding but can also be very understanding, knows how to make a lasting impression, active fighter for social causes and politics, popular, quite moody, sexually oriented, honest, a perfectionist, has a precise sense of judgment and expects complete fairness.
Don't you think so, too?

The search is almost over

We've already submitted a handful hopeful singers to our Boss for approval. He has the last say as he's the one who knows what's best for the group. The list of 10 singers were now cut down to 2 or 3 and in a few days, we'll be deciding who will replace Brice after our Shangri-La Mactan stint. We already have a choice of our own, but we need to hear our Boss' advice.

Rush move

When the hotel front desk told us on Monday night that we'll have to pack our stuff because the hotel would be running full on Tuesday, we spent 4 hours packing after our work. On Tuesday noon, they told us that we can still use our room till the afternoon or evening because there's still no advice to them as to when and where we will be moving to. We waited for their advice the whole day. All our stuff are packed in the luggages, only taking what we need out of the bags. Tuesday passed, still no advice.

Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, we had to meet up with a singer who wants to join us. We went back to the hotel at 5PM, went for a beauty nap. 30 minutes after, the front desk called and informed us that we need to move RIGHT AWAY. We explained that we needed to prepare for work at 6PM and asked if we can move after work instead. They declined and said that we need to vacate our rooms at 6PM. What more can we do? With my eyebrows meeting in the middle, had to return the stuff we took out of the luggages and take them to the newly allocated rooms at Ocean Wing. Had to rush, iron clothes, prepare for work and take dinner all in an hour!

Since last week, we've already stayed in 4 different rooms and everytime I sign the bill this time, I have to take a moment to remember my room number!

Yes or no?

That's the question we kept asking the hotel the whole day. Spent 4 hours packing last night because we were told that they will be needing our rooms today. Woke up before noon, did last minute packing before we called the duty manager. Only to be told, "We're not yet sure what time you can move. Just stay in your rooms & we'll let you know". What the heck!!! Marlou & I had our lunch and sped off to SM to meet some singers. We wouldn't want to wait just like the last time. And lucky we didn't because it's already 10PM and there still no news or developments. Our things are all packed in the room, except for the hanged clothes, and still no news! Oh well...

Not again!

Got a message on our machine that we need to pack tonight because they will need the rooms tomorrow. Are you kidding me??? I've just unpacked and ironed out my clothes last weekend!!! Not again!!!

Off

I'm at the lobby of Waterfront Hotel, listening to a friend who has a session with a pianist here. We've been to Marco Polo Hotel just now to talk to a friend who has a function there. Just spending our off to listen to other bands and musicians. Oh, and after some time, I visited the church today to alleviate the sins I've committed the whole year round! LOL

Couldn't stand the heat

If you're stuck in a room like us with newly varnished furnitures and airconditioning unit that's not working, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to stand being inside that room. Plus the construction workers passing by infront of the closed door, singing and talking, while they do their jobs. If you were on our shoes, I'm sure you could have already complained to the Duty Manager to move you in a different room. But we can't do that. It's better than nothing.

The other night after work, we went back to our house in Talisay to at least get a proper rest. We also brought back our industrial floor fan yesterday since the hotel couldn't provide us with one.

Just our luck!

We were called to be informed that we're moving back to the main wing! So after work last night, we moved back to the main wing. My day is going just right today because I had a good rest... Just starting...

Nap by the pool

It's my first time sleep by the poolside. But I didn't care at all. At least I had couple of hours afternoon nap. It's still freakin' hot in the room!

Camping

Woke up at 10AM today, drenched in sweat. Not that I had enough rest. Aside from the heat, the construction workers started working at 7AM. So I'd be awaken by the constant drilling, pumping, hammering since 7AM. I looked at Marlou and he was sleeping like a baby - sweaty baby that is. And something caught my eye. An orange ear plug was planted on his ear.... smart!!! And there I was, trying to get some sleep amidst the construction noise, while Marl was snoring, even getting choked by his own snoring! Hahaha!

Actually, I'm having a bad day right now. And hell knows no fury once I'm deprived from sleep. I could get really grumpy and irritable. Even sarcastic and maldita. Kaya don't mess with me today if you don't want me to turn your happy day upside down.

NOTE: Please forgive me for using some Tagalog words. And you have to forgive me because I'm grumpy! LOL

Finally! But...sss

After having us wait up for 8 hours and getting tired from sitting, they finally have cleaned up the rooms in the Ocean Wing of the hotel and told us that it can be readied at 9PM. They asked us to wash up and prepare for work at the hotel's Health Club and so we did. But we were 30 minutes late for our performance. What can we do? They only gave us little time to prepare for work because we waited for their advice the whoooooole day, as directed.

So anyway, we had a great night today since the hotel is full and everyone enjoyed - hopefully. I wasn't on my top shape though, I was exhausted from sitting the whole day and not being able to catch a nap. At least, Brice did.

After work, they moved us into the Ocean Wing, along with other in-house staff. The wing was partly functional: the corridor was all dusty from construction; male workers work overtime; the rooms are newly painted therefore having an awfully strong smell that can make you dizzy; and the best... the aircondition is not working!!! @$%&!!! I'm still on my costume as I'm blogging and drenched in sweat. It's like the "extension" of being on a stage with 10 spotlights, only better because we have a bed!

The duty manager just arrived and guess what? Opened our balcony's sliding door. He told us that there were similar complaints but he said that he has asked his staff to find a solution for heat... dan-dara-raaaannn... an electric fan!

So far, we have waited for an hour and we're getting used to the heat. Marlou had a great "boy scout" idea. He pulled the comforter from the bed to the floor and put it by the opened sliding door. Brilliant! We're like having a night camp by the beach with mosquitoes and flying insects trying to barge into our room. Luckily the white see-through curtain serves like a mosquito net. I will just have to tape the edges of the curtain to make sure we'll be mosquito-free the whole night.

Luckily, the water is already running through the pipes, but the faucet on the bathroom sink is taped all over and noted "wet sealant". So I had to bend over to wash my face on the bathtub. The TV doesn't work too and only the main lights are functional.

So it's past 2AM now & I'm freakin' exhausted. Gotta try our "camping on the carpet floor of the Ocean Wing room"... without electric fan. Unfortunately, can't make my planned 'giant bonfire' inside the room, smoke detector activated. Besides it will just aggravate heat. Having Marl beside me on the floor can already increase the heat - in a different sense though. Hahaha! Let the queen-sized bed be lonely tonight... Good night!

Stuck

Four hours. That's how long we've been here at the lounge. Brice has already fallen asleep in her couch, Marl is still wifi-ing, my laptop's battery has already run out and I just had my 3rd coffee! Yet, we're still homeless refugees. Does anyone care to adopt us? Of course, not for free. My right thigh alone costs a lot per kilo! LOL.

NOTE: Now is the perfect chance for us to sing "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. LOL.

Mr. A

Last night, I wrote the Dull Sunday entry on my blog. Well it really wasn't that dull. Because at 10PM, we went to chill out at the Cebu's peak point where you can see the whole of Cebu. Ok, not whole, maybe just Cebu. Or maybe just. Or maybe. Or.

ANG KULIT KO TALAGA!!! LOL.

So anyway, we went to Cebu's peak, passed by Marco Polo Hotel (formerly Cebu Plaza Hotel) to check out the hotel and proceeded to an outdoor restaurant called Mr. A. It's a chill-out place where you can just chill-out. Hahaha! Ang gulo! We went there with two of our lobby lounge staff, Lyn and Aubrey. Since it drizzled in the afternoon, it was so cold there and I regretted wearing my favorite khaki skirt and a tiny blouse. Just had some juice there and calamares while we chatted about anything until past 1AM.

We reached back to the hotel at 2AM and finished packing our stuff. I went to bed at 4AM.

Still undecided

Two hours after vacating our rooms, after coffee and lunch and another coffee, we're still stuck here in the lounge. We're still waiting for any news whether they still have the plans to give us shelter or maybe we better start digging our holes on the white sand beach now for a warm evening tonight. Or maybe we can ask the housekeeping to give us a mattress with warm blanket. Use their securities to fan us all night, making sure that we're mosquito-free. Oh and I won't forget to gather some woods of course for a giant bonfire that will burn the whole Mactan island. Or maybe the whole island of Cebu, too. Or even the Philippines.

LOL.

I'm just kidding, I'm not a terrorist. I'm just a romantic sadist. With wild imagination. Bwahahaha!

Within the premises

We've already checked out from our rooms before 12noon. And we have been here in the lobby lounge since then. Can't believe they still don't know where the hell to put us for 2 or 3 days! They said the Ocean Wing is not yet prepared, water doesn't even run in the pipes there. Maybe we'll go back to Crown Regency or maybe they'll just throw us out in the streets. And it's not like we're business travellers who have only one or two suitcases. We have a bunch of stuff!!! But yeah, we should have just left most of the unimportant stuff in our house in Talisay. And some of you might think, "who cares about your luggages?". Well, looks like we're going to suffer moving like this while in Mactan. So therefore, I must dispose some of the not-so-important stuff at home or maybe just feed them to the fishes in the ocean! #$%^&!!! Oh well, I'm talking nonsense here, guess it's the hunger working my brain up here! Sorry! Have to eat now...

Dull Sunday

Woke up at 12noon, had buffet lunch at the Tides at 1PM. We were planning to drive around Cebu and go to Danao, just check out what they have there. Take note, it's DANAO, not DAVAO. It's a small town in Cebu where they have beaches as well. When we got back to the room to change, our room keys didn't work. Called the housekeeper who's cleaning the room next to us. They have the masterkey to all the rooms but still couldn't open our damn door. The battery of the door lock has run out and we had to wait for 30 minutes to get a Duty Manager to open the door and another 30 minutes to get the engineering to repair and change the battery of our door lock.

We were an hour late to our scheduled itinerary for the day. We passed by a gasoline station to fill up our tank and Marlou realized something, he forgot his wallet and his driver's license in the hotel! Too much stuff controlling us to take the planned trip to Danao, a simple way of telling us to postpone the plan, so we did. We just took the small roads of Mactan Island, drove through the famouse beach resorts here. I, on the front passsenger seat, enjoyed taking candid shots of the people on the street as they go though their daily lives. I'm proud to say that eventhough I'm using my Canon Ixus750 camera, it has strikingly expressive and impressive photos.

When we got back to the hotel, we had a chat with Marlou's cousin, Judy, at the Bacchus, the wine store of the Shangri-La Hotel. We had a good coffee before going to the beach to relax. It wasn't a good day for sun-lovers, the weather's been gloomy the whole day. In fact, at 5PM, it drizzled a bit as I was talking to Selena on the phone. We went back to the room because Marlou wanted to watch his favorite races, MotoGP and F1. I really couldn't relax in the room on a Sunday! So I grabbed my laptop and here I am blogging at the lobby of Shangri-La Hotel (I also have posted the drafted blog entries during the past days - better late than never!).

I just realized it's not as dull as I thought it was. I'm just beginning to enjoy and relax...

On the 22nd Street

We've just been to the 22nd Street Comedy Bar along Mango Avenue. Marlou and I jammed for a couple of songs since the bar was almost empty at almost 2AM. We had a light supper at a place called Habwa, a hangout place for most of the musicians in Cebu after work. It's just a normal carinderia or side-street eatery serving food & drinks (of course! LOL). But I don't know why it has been a dwelling place for the musicians. I had a Chilimansi Pancit Canton while Marlou just had chorizo. We went back to the hotel at past 4AM.

Donna Cruz

We just had a dinner and guess who we saw just now? It's Donna Cruz. FYI, she's from the showbiz clan Cruz, who had a great success after winning Tanghalan ng Kampeon, a popular singing contest on TV. She had a big career in singing & acting before settling down to Cebu with a doctor from one of the prominent families in Cebu, the Larrazabal clan. Marlou was very close to the Cruz cousins when they were still together on the TV show, That's Entertainment. And when I said Cruz cousins, I meant Geneva, Aubrey Rose, Donna and Glenda. They are still keeping in touch with each other after the show ended 10 years ago.

So as I was saying, we saw Donna Cruz at the Tides having dinner with her lovely family. It was my first time to meet her and I really admire her beauty. I was definitely star struck!

Know more about her through her website at www.donnacruz.com.

Fun at Ratsky

It was another "subtle" Friday night at the lounge last night. After our work, we went out to watch some bands again. Our lounge manager Lyn and her cousin came with us, along with a Korean tour guide who as become friends with the Lobby Lounge staff.

We first went to "Sinners and Saints" and found the Firelights band playing their last set. We transferred to Ratsky in Ayala and we were surprised to see our friend, Rizza Navales, jamming with the Suburbia band. Our Korean friend treated us with pizzas, squid rings and San Mig Light beers. We only stayed for an hour of dancing and eating. Then we went back home at 3:30AM.

Cebu Street Scenes

I've got a new gallery on my PBase called Cebu Street Scenes. It's something you would see everyday on the streets of Cebu. Come take a look:

Cebu Street Scenes

The International Academy of Film & Television

Can you believe that the International Academy of Film & Television or IAFT is just a couple kilometers away from Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort and Spa? Yes, we used to pass by that Bigfoot compund of yellow buildings almost everyday when we used to stay at the villa. And we still see it everytime we go to the town proper or the main Cebu city. It was also where they held the second audition for the 1st Philippine Idol in Cebu where thousands of applicants tried their luck. Aspiring filmmakers, producers, directors, cinematographers, and the likes, from all over world come to Mactan to study filmmaking. This will boost not only Cebu's, but also the country's tourism. It's kinda expensive though, but they do have workshops. I might get insane and just hop in the Bigfoot compound one of these days. LOL.

World Cup Finals 2006

I'm here at the Lobby Lounge for the WiFi and everyone is talking about it. I'm not a fan and I don't even care about it, but I just figured out it'll be a nice catch for a title. They will be watching it at 2AM (Philippine time) at the new entertainment outlet of the Shangri-La Mactan, the E-Zone. The E-Zone is a very exciting new hangout. It's very TimeZone, an entertainment arcade you can find in most of the malls in the Philippines. They have pool table, arcade games, air hockey and computers for internet access or playing GameBox. They have a giant TV screen which shows the sports from the sports channels. Of course, you can order your favorite refreshments there, too. Maybe I can drop by the E-Zone after dinner to check it out later.

The bad fruit

I've just finished dinner and what a lucky day it is for me. I was wrapping up my dinner with my favorite fresh fruits from the buffet: ripe mangoes, pineapple & guava. They seldom serve guava and so I enjoyed every bite of the guava slice I took. Luckily I looked halfway through it. I saw something moving. Could it be li'l white worms?! I spat out the guava on my mouth right away - in discretion of course. I called a staff and made them aware of it. I didn't complain at all because one could never tell anyway if it's a bad fruit or not. But I don't think I’d be eating guava during the next few days, or months.

Settled in

We're all settled in the hotel. We're having our meals at the Tides restaurant, getting WiFi access in the lobby, roam around the 13 hectare property of the Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort. We can use the gym but they don't have space for Pilates or Yoga so I'd rather stay in the room & do it there. We have lots of priviledges which the local staff are envious about, in a good way though, or so I thought.

Today I went to the beach and watched the kids feed the fishes on the shallow waters. Didn't want to swim, got no one to go with me. Marl doesn't enjoy swimming & Brice is very busy these days. It rained suddenly and so I ended up getting all bored in the room. I bought a bamboo King Flute which is exactly like my tin whistle - I just realized that after buying it!

I've had the well-deserved sleep I've been craving for three months now. My sleep has become my problem lately. In KL, I'd sleep at least 10 hours. In Cebu, I'd be lucky if I can get 8 hours straight, like the couple of nights when I slept for more thn 12 hours coz of my meds. But since we moved in the hotel, all I did was to sleep and sleep. Gotta make up for the almost sleepless nights I've had.

Waiting for rooms

We've already checked in during the last post. But we've been here in the lobby lounge since 10:30AM because the rooms are all fully booked. The guests are checking out by 12noon and they can only give the room to us squeaky clean at 2PM. Nothing to do much here, just surfing on the net. I hope Marlou and Brice are as hungry as I am so that we can have lunch at the Tides Restaurant. I haven't eaten anything since this morning!!!

Bye Crown Regency, Hello Shangri-La

Just checked in! Woke up at 9AM, didn't even go for a shower, but at least I brushed my teeth! Checked out from the reception of Crown Regency Suites & Residences and signed the bills. Our Avis service van arrived at 10AM sharp, loaded most of our stuff on it. Marlou would be driving our LiteAce van so we also loaded some of our things there.

Now we're already here in Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort & Spa. They said it's their first time ever to house their resident band. True enough. It's their first time to get a band with priviledges like ours. A lot of staff are raising their eyebrows but most of them didn't even wonder why. I'm not surprised at all. Used to it.

So anyway, I'd like to welcome all you Sarita's Blog Corner readers to Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort! I'm taking you all to this very exciting journey of ours - in pictures.

Last night at the villa

We're aboard the Avis Rent-A-Car service on the way back to the villa. It's the same service that we've used for the past two months and it's the last time it's sending us back home because we wouldn't be needing transportation to the hotel anymore. We're moving in the Shangri-La's Mactan Resort at 10AM later. Have to pack the remaining stuff! Tah-tah!
