Re:vive

There is this herbal wine that I’ve been taking for more than a year now which gives me pleasant results with my health. I take it as soon as I wake up and it’s herbal so don’t point your finger at me and call me an alcoholic! Hahaha!

Re:vive health drink is a product of an MLM company, VisionQuest Philippines. They have a line of health drinks that can cure certain diseases and illnesses. The health drink that I’ve been taking helps me with my overall health. It also helps my thyroid to function properly, although I need a larger dose than 2 jiggers a day to diminish it. I used to take 5 jiggers a day but the bottle only lasts for 10 days. I did it when I was in the Philippines, but now I’m here overseas, I have to save every drop of it because it’s not easy to get it from here. Selena brought 3 wines when they came here and I’m already on my 2nd bottle.

My aunt is going back to Manila on the 9th, so I’m convincing her to bring me 10 bottles! Hahaha!

Like her mom

I’m pretty glad Selena has been making lots of friends, especially on this trip. She spends afternoons in the room of our hotel manager who has a 4-year old daughter or by the pool. And she would always talk about her new friend, Noor. She can easily make friends with anyone, even by the poolside, where most of our stay-in guests relax especially in the afternoons when the sun is not that strong anymore. Some of our guests have kids with them so Selena would just simply make a conversation with them and next thing I know, she’s running around with them or pushing each other into the water!

She wanted to stay with us until we finish our contract but we still don’t know yet. I have to make sure that she gets the proper education she needs. And also I have to make sure that she will be accepted in school as a Grade 1 student next school year in June.

As of now, we’re enjoying each other’s company. She’s really a nice girl and I complement my mom for being able to raise my daughter this way, even I’ve been far away most of the time.

Another off is gone...

Another day-off has just passed, and yet, I’m glad that it has been a fruitful one. We were picked up by Aunty Susan at 3PM. Selena, Marlou, Susan and I went to Midvalley Megamall to stroll around. We just strolled the whole 3 hours while Selena enjoyed the Megakids there. She missed it while she was away for more than 6 months. They have kiddie program daily now where they get the kids to join them in their games or for singing and dancing, and that’s what Selena wants.

We went back at 6PM, sent Marlou back to the hotel and went back to my friend’s place to spend some time there chit-chatting with them and my aunt. They sent me and Selena back to the hotel at 10:30PM, just in time for Marlou’s breaktime for his last set.

My friends opened a bottle of champagne, took out 4 glasses for each of us. But I ended up drinking almost the whole bottle, not because I wanted to drink the whole of it. It’s because my friends thought that they still have to get up early tomorrow to work. I really love champagne and how could I resist that?

Time really passes by quickly especially with Selena here. I even couldn’t go to gym anymore. I couldn’t do my usual stuff now that my computer time is less than before, especially I have installed some programs for her to kill time. I even couldn’t find time for my guitar lesson anymore! But Marlou has just bought me another source of guitar basics today at MPH. So hopefully I can find time to strum my fingers into my ol’ guitar which have accumulated dust even it’s inside its hardcase.

I even might resume my Pilates even in the room. I feel bloated. Yoga does wonders to me but it’s still not enough. My body’s searching for the most effective workout – Pilates. So I have to reorganize my daily schedule soon. And for me to materialize that, I need enough rest soooooo I have to go off now!!! Tah-tah!

Sound (bad)trip - part 2

Well, it has definitely been a great week last week. I’m kinda stressed out, maybe because of my hectic schedule and my duties. Luckily, it’s my off tomorrow again.

We had a great time at my friend’s place last Saturday. The crowd was great, too. Lots of regulars in the crowd. On Sunday, Marlou, Selena and I went to KLCC to shop. We ate at Yoshinoya but I still ended up eating McDonalds because Selena couldn’t finish her food.

At work at night, it was mostly foreign (whites) in the crowd. We have been having an issue with the sound system for the whole week. I feel that the front desk has been overreacting with our sound, especially whenever we play fast songs. They always thought that our sound is way too loud. But there were lots of guests requesting us to turn up the volume a bit because it was too soft for them. We were left in the middle with a choice to follow the people who have come to listen and watch us. I mean, they are paying for their drinks to enjoy. They could have just opened a bottle beer in their house and sat in their couches and listened to their favorite CD’s. They could have just turned up the volume to the maximum and simply enjoy themselves. But then again, in everything that we do, there’s always a contrary to it.

We might call up for a meeting soon with the sound engineer, our bosses and some lobby lounge staff so we can straighten up the issue. We want everyone to enjoy our music and our work, we don’t want to hold grudges with anyone. Anyway, we’ve been doing our business here in the same hotel for past 4 years and we haven’t had any bad record at all. We want to maintain it that way and we want to work peacefully...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends on the other side of the world! It’s just a normal weekend here in Malaysia. Had a great night at work actually. Got lots of guests but then again, for some unknown reasons, the management complained regarding our sound again. We were on our “subdued” volume already when they complained, which was not even the one that the GM asked us to maintain. It’s a lot softer than that. But then again, they don’t understand what music really is. They just think that when the note goes high or a bit loud, it’s noise already. That’s their perception, let’s just respect it.

Anyway, I’ll be going to bed after this blog. We’ll be having a great day tomorrow at my friend’s place: swimming, Filipino lunch and just plainly relaxing. Have a nice weekend to all!!!

Rainy KL

It’s been raining in KL every afternoon. I wanted to take out Selena for a stroll in KLCC or Bukit Bintang sometimes but the weather’s not good. She’s also upset that she couldn’t swim when she wants because it’s been raining. Hotel don’t allow people to swim in the pool when it’s raining – maybe they don’t want people to get wet when it rains! Hahaha!

The other day, Selena enjoyed her time in the hotel’s swimming pool. I just relaxed by the poolside while keeping an eye on her. No much guests because there’s no reason for them to enjoy themselves under the sun. It’s rainy season.

Another great thing I discovered when I was by the poolside was I got a wireless internet signal from one of the buildings, PanGlobal, but it was too slow. I just tried to hop from one table to another till I found a signal.

Hopefully it won’t rain tomorrow. Selena will be having a swim at my friend’s condo. I want her to have a good time.

Poor kid

Today is my day off… Marlou still has to work, though. Sometimes I feel sorry for him because he has already signed a contract to sing 7 nights a week until the end of December. It’s such a shame that we don’t get to spend much time together as a family now that Selena is around.

We went to Sungei Wang today to buy some of Selena’s stuff. Before going back to the hotel, Marlou and Selena went to Watson’s for a while to purchase IDD card. I was left sitting by the stairs of Sungei Wang near the pedestrian bridge, infront of the 2 lifts. There were lots of people passing by the pedestrian bridge when I noticed a small boy, around 15 months. He had a cheerful smile when he saw my face smiling back at him, and I was wondering why the people passing by were looking at me. They must have thought the kid’s mine and I was thinking that one of the parents was standing nearby. The kid was climbing up the stairs beside me and no one was stopping him. I became so alarmed and I was looking around for somebody to look out for that kid.

Two minutes passed with me pulling the boy from the railings where he could have fallen off head first to the ground floor. A barefooted woman with shabby clothes came to pull her off so hard from me that the baby screamed. I was so shocked by the whole thing and I didn’t know what to do. She then went infront of the lifts and pressed the down button. When the door opened, she put the boy inside the lift, but the boy didn’t want to and kept running out. I wanted to help the kid but I felt so helpless myself. I couldn’t bear seeing situations like that. That woman must be crazy! So when the kid finally got out of the lift and followed where the woman was sitting, I realized that they are the beggars on the pedestrian bridge. Marlou saw the whole thing when they arrived. He felt sorry for the kid and even wanted to report to the police.

I mean, what kind of a person would leave a kid in a lift full of strangers? She must have just given the kid to the orphanage and put it for adoption if she’ll just treat him that way. The same sympathy goes to all the abandoned children all over the world. In Philippines alone, there are lots of street children who would beg for food and money even at 3AM. In China, I also saw babies as young as 24 months being trained by their useless mothers to beg – in winter time! And in China, I saw in the newspaper and magazine that newborn girls are unwanted babies. Sometimes the newborn babies, with umbilical cord attached, are left lifeless in the garbage or in the gutter of the street!

I don’t want to frankly judge people who do that to their kids. It’s their business and I don’t have to stick my nose on that. But just wanna share with you all, as a mother, that I am disheartened by those abandoned and homeless kids. All those malnourished and sick kids we see in the news. If only I have enough power and money to help…

A1 Experience

Woke up at 9:30AM today, had my shower while boiling some water for my coffee. We made some calls to some friends who would be interested to watch the A1 Grand Prix, but still we were left with 6 extra tickets. Selena slept over at Papa Jamal’s house in Subang but they both arrived at 10:30AM to fetch us from the hotel. We then hit the road and arrived at the Sepang F1 Circuit at around 12 noon. Had we arrived earlier than that, we could have gotten inside the garage, as promised by our friend Big O, and took pix with the drivers and mechanic engineers. I know there’s nothing exciting about that, but “pictures” being my middle name – you definitely know what I want.

While we were having something to eat, I saw some friends who regularly go to the lounge. I was even shocked that the restaurant there where we ate in is owned by our regular guest, too. It was great to see them in another place other than the hotel. After lunch, we had to walk all the way to the grand stand, luckily it wasn’t that hot even though it was noontime. We even thought it was going to rain and so we were ready to get drenched in the rain. But it was a great day instead.

We reached the grandstand and got ourselves a good spot infront of the pits, 2 o’clock position from the Malaysian garage. There were actually 2 races from 25 nations from all over the world. Malaysian driver Fairuz Fauzy raced for the first one which is the A1 sprint race. We were fortunate that we got to the grandstand just before the race started. I only brought with me a 64MB SD card, luckily Marlou lent me his card-reader/harddisk where I saved all the pictures and videos I took everytime my card would run full. I must say that it was an easy task but it got me preoccupied coupled with Selena’s consistent calling when she wanted to talk to me coz everyone else was so focused with the race. The engines were so loud especially during the race that we had to wear ear plugs, especially Selena. I sent SMS to Big O and he came out of the garage and we started waving frantically to him so he could see us among the crowd. It was so funny when he started waving back because some of the people also waved back at him! Hahaha!

There was a break just before the feature race so Selena and I bought some ice cream for everyone else. I saw couple of Shangri-La staff walking around. It wasn’t that hot for a noontime but it was humid. Although I was wearing a sleeveless blouse and a mini skirt, I still felt like stripping in public coz it was humid.

The 2nd race was more exciting as there were more people in the crowd cheering for Alex Yoong. Almost everyone stood up the whole race through and would always cheer everytime he passes by infront of the grandstand. It was an overwhelming experience! I felt like I was also a Malaysian when everyone would cheer “Malaysia… Boleh!”. There was also a funny man behind us who kept on shouting funny Malay phrases that would crack everyone up. I kept on laughing whenever he’d say something although I couldn’t understand him. But Selena turned grumpy, she found the whole thing boring and wanted to go back. She kept calling me out loud amidst the noisy crowd and cars passing by to say that she wanted to go back to the hotel to sleep.

At last the race was finished. Malaysia did good at 5th place. France won both races. I didn’t care about the others placed in between. After the race, we were supposed to wait till everyone’s gone then maybe we can get invited to the garage by our friend. But, I looked at my watch, computed the time, and just decided to head back straight to the hotel.

We stopped by at an R&R (Rest & Relax) to have some food before we go back, coz I know that I’ll be dead tired and will be needing some rest before we go to work. While we were eating nasi lemak, Selena had chicken with rice. Suddenly, she said that she accidentally hit her loosen lower tooth with her tongue. Papa Jamal joked that he can remove it easily for her, she then obliged and went near him. Papa Jamal shook off her loosen tooth and pulled it out. Selena was smiling all through out and she didn’t even realize that her tooth has been pulled out already. After R&R, we all slept in the car. We reached the hotel at 6PM and slept until 7:15PM.

It’s Sunday and it was still a working night for us. My voice didn’t feel too much hoarse, compared to the past days, considering all the cheering I did at A1 earlier huh! It was a great night, have some of my friends in the crowd. But I was so honored when our old friend from Concorde days came to visit us, Dato Syed Alwi. We were close with his family before and would often spend time in their house in the afternoons and during day offs. He and his wife, Datin Sophia, are very nice people, not like those other rich people I’ve known. We still kept in touch through the years especially on special occasions.

After work, we just had a quiet time in the room. I was so tired, had a long day – tiring yet very interesting one. Have to go off now… it was definitely a great day!

Another open-house

It's amazing that Malaysians have been celebrating Hari Raya for more than 2 weeks now. Papa Jamal and his family hosted another open-house today in their house in Subang today. Open-houses are common during Hari Raya and havr been their tradition during this festive season. That gives them a chance to mingle with friends & relatives and visit other houses. The hosts usually serve food, preferably spicy Malaysian dishes and some of their cakes and sweets.

We woke up at 12 noon today. Luckily Selena had enough rest. We waited for Nanay Susana to pick us up and we arrived Papa Jamal's house at around 2PM. Brice slept over there and it was Selena's turn to sleep over there (she's fast asleep right now). I wasn't able to eat much because of the spicy food prepared. I just enjoyed mingling with friends. We went back to the hotel at 5:30PM, still gave us some time to take a nap.

It was unusually quiet for a Saturday at the lounge tonight. Not really quiet, the lounge was still full but the people were quite boring, until we finished. It was hard to please tonight's crowd, but I didn't care a bit. I still enjoyed myself with every song we played, even though my voice has turned hoarse coz lack of sleep the past few days - since Selena arrived. We're still adjusting to her time and vice versa.

Tomorrow is the A1 race. We're going to the Sepang Circuit tomorrow to watch the race and to support the Malaysian team. I'm going to see Alex Yoong's wife again, former Miss Malaysia Arianna Teoh. I really love her beauty, I haven't seen her for a year since that Engelbert Humperdinck show at the Shangri-La Hotel. Oh and of course, we're going to see the equally handsome husband of hers, the star of tomorrow's race, Alex Yoong.

Hafta to go zzZZZzzzZZZzzz...

New Goal

I woke up at 10AM, Selena had been trying to wake me up no matter how hard I tried to tell her that mommy needs to sleep more. She's been asking stuff, talking about how long my hair is - while I was half-awake. I just kept mumbling "uhum", "yeah", "no" and "shhhh" repeatedly. So now one new goal for me - to try to sleep at the same time with her.

I finally got up at 12 noon when she said she's hungry and that she wanted to play. My head was spinning so I just lay in the bed for a while after I made her milk and prepared her "brunch" - by the way, my term brunch is the chocolate bread that I bought from the Star Mart at the Caltex downstairs. Marlou attended to her while I stole some nap while she was busy finishing her brunch.

The weather wasn't good so instead of going out to buy some of her stuff, we just stayed back in the room. She was busy with her stamps, pretending to be an immigration officer who gives chops on our passports. She was also singing nonstop on her microphone - the one I bought for her yesterday from KLCC. It's a toy, a microphone with a mic stand and with an attached lyrics stand in a shape of a flower. It's multi colored from the base to the microphone and what's amazing is it already equipped with 3 foot swtiches for 6 different songs she can sing along with.

I waited for the rain to stop while I had a nap for an hour. At 7PM, the rain had already stopped so I went to Concorde with Selena to see my friends for a while. Selena was later on fetched by Susana's husband to supposedly see a doctor. Selena has been having cough since last weekend when she was still in Manila. I finally had my own time to prepare for work.

It was so unusual for a Friday night to be so quiet when we started our first set. The whole week was so busy at the lounge that it was difficult to find a table on our 2nd set. But the lounge wasn't filled until our 3rd set! The late crowd started to come and soon even the bar was filled with standing crowd. Our last set was overly extended - 30 minutes extension - so we played straight for an hour and 15 minutes! It was funny when we had our 3 songs which were introduced as "this is our last song" but since the crowd called out for more, we had to play more. It was great to play for a crowd like that, when they really appreciate our music. We finished at 1:20AM.

Right after the stage lights went out and the lobby lounge lit up bright, I got a call from Susana telling me that they are just outside. So I ran to the hotel entrance and took Selena from the car, while I was wiping myself dry from sweat. Selena was obviously lookign tired and sleepy so we went up right away. I prepared her milk, bathed her, gave her her vitamins, before she went to sleep at around 2AM.

We have an early day tomorrow. BBQ lunch in Subang, another open-house of Papa Jamal and his family. Some of the staff and some of our friends in the lounge are also coming tomorrow. It will surely be a fun day.

Having said that... I think I have to log off now. Remember my new goal: Sleep when Selena's asleep!!!

Welcome back, Selena!

Ok, the big secret’s out - Selena is back in town! I’ve been keeping mum about it because I wanted to surprise my friends in Concorde Hotel who’ve been anxiously waiting for Selena’s arrival to KL. She traveled with my Aunty Susan, my mom’s youngest sister. They arrived on Wednesday night via Air Asia and they were fetched by my godmom Susana from the airport. It was also my friend Edlyn’s (of Rhythm Scent Band) last night in KL before they fly to Haikou, China.

After work, the prince of an Arab country (identity kept discreet) opened a bottle of champagne for the band, which I have to wallop fast so I can spend time with Selena before she goes to sleep. But when I got to the room, she was still awake and so we spent at least 2 hours before she went to sleep. I chatted with my aunt until 4AM. I was so tired the whole day because I got up early, coz of excitement, and I couldn’t eat the whole day, again, coz of excitement.

That’s why my previous post just simply said “my life is complete”… because Selena is already here with me.

Life's complete

My life is complete at the moment. That's all I can say for now (just finished a bottle of champagne with one of the royalties of a Middle East country)...

Exciting day

There are lots of reasons for me to get excited and be happy today. But I will elaborate on that later. For the meantime, don't forget to visit my newly updated photos online on my KL 2005 Pics at:

Microsoft Word Blogging

Trying to blog from Microsoft Word. I don’t know if this will go through my blog. Hmmm… let’s try it…

Pics uploaded

Thanks to my new cam... now I can update pics without having to wait for Marlo's pics from his cam!

New pics uploaded in KL 2005 Album:

Enjoy!!!

Very very early

Went to bed at 6AM today. My friend Edlyn has been staying with us for a few days now because she feels lonely in our bandhouse in Cheras, besides she loves chatting with us - nonstop! So today, we went to bed at 6AM, slept for a few hours...

Got up at almost 10AM. Our good friend booked me an appointment with his family physician to be checked for my hernia & thyroid. I was suggested to do a Radioactive Iodine Treatment for my thyroid and a surgery for my hernia - both of which I'll have to decide soon. Will see a surgeon and have another checkup in General Hospital soon for proper diagnosis.

It's our off day and I'm back in the hotel right now. Have to catch some sleep, Marlou has a performance tonight. I might just stay in the hotel to rest. I've had lots of food today in our friend's condo in Damansara.

Will be posting some pics soon...

Start the day right with a smile!

For me, it is very important to start your day right. I'm a grumpy person in the first hour of my day, unless I start it right. And starting the day right for me is having a reason to smile or laugh. And it happened just 2 hours ago.

Yesterday, I got a call from UPS that I have a package from the US, though I wasn't expecting anything from anyone especially from the US. Today, I had a wakeup call from the concierge at past 12 noon telling me that my package has already arrived. I jumped out of the bed, half-awake, anxiously waited for 20 minutes then... DING! DONG! Finally, the package was sent to the room!

The package was really from the US, and addressed to me. I opened the package, and I was f**kng surprised when I saw what was inside. I looked at the forms again if the package was for me coz I couldn't believe it. It's my dream camera, the camera that I've been drooling on whenever I pass by a digital camera shop. This is the latest model among the Canon Ixus cameras... drum rolls please...

It's a Canon Powershot SD550 or Ixus 750!!! I was soooooo happy and excited about it. It's soooooo nice and it's not even silver like the other Ixus cameras I had and seen. Now, I'm not so brokenhearted about my Ixus400 being broken by that staff in Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai.

So expect more new pics on my pbase gallery from now on!!! Wooooohooooo!

Inguinal Hernia

Some of my friends think that hernia occurs in men only. Actually male-female ratio of hernia cases is 3:1 so there are still a lot of cases out there which are similar to mine, though there are lots of types of hernia. It's just that they first heard it from me. For those who doesn't have any idea what hernia is, let me share with you this handy information:

A hernia is a condition in which part of the intestine bulges through a weak area in muscles in the abdomen. An inguinal hernia occurs in the groin (the area between the abdomen and thigh). It is called "inguinal" because the intestines push through a weak spot in the inguinal canal, which is a triangle-shaped opening between layers of abdominal muscle near the groin. Obesity, pregnancy, heavy lifting, and straining to pass stool can cause the intestine to push against the inguinal canal.

Symptoms of inguinal hernia may include a lump in the groin near the thigh; pain in the groin; and, in severe cases, partial or complete blockage of the intestine. The doctor diagnoses hernia by doing a physical exam and by taking x rays and blood tests to check for blockage in the intestine.

The main treatment for inguinal hernia is surgery to repair the opening in the muscle wall. This surgery is called herniorrhaphy. Sometimes the weak area is reinforced with steel mesh or wire. This operation is called hernioplasty. If the protruding intestine becomes twisted or traps stool, part of the intestine might need to be removed. This surgery is called bowel resection. (Bowel is another word for intestine.)

Oops UPS!

Had a busy day today. It started out with getting a call from UPS, telling me that I have a package coming and that they just want to inform me about it. I mean, why don't they just send it right away? It just got me anxious and impatiently waiting for it the whole day. I didn't get the package today, so will have to have anxiously wait tomorrow again I guess.

Had my coffee before going out to remit money for my aunt who's coming with Selena soon. I'm pulling Selena out from school a month earlier before the Christmas break. This will be the only chance she can go to KL because Philippine's Department of Social Welfare and Development doesn't allow minors from 13 years old below to travel unaccompanied. Luckily, she's still in prep and her teacher said she's a smart kid so she can catch up with the class when she comes back, preferably in January next year. I'm really excited to see her and be with her. Haven't seen her for... like ahmmm... 8 months now. I will be very busy when she comes to KL. Supermom mode is waiting to be switched on!!!

Appealing or appalling?

I have met lots of people who have oozing sex appeals. But this is what they call "animal appeal"! Animal appeal shows when you appear very appealing to the animals, and I'm not talking about being its prey or its hearty meal - that's looking yummy to animals. Look at this dog at the salon where I trimmed my hair the other day. Not only does it know where to look at but it definitely knows where to land its tongue, hahaha! Bad dog... bad bad dog! Hihihi!

Blogs lost

Funny thing I noticed in my blog corner just now. Some posts have disappeared! Look at November 7's "Holiday over" and November 9's "Sound (bad)trip". Maybe somebody's trying to control over my blog? Am I gonna be famous for being locked up for expressing my mind? If that's the case, I can't wait! Hahaha!

Hernia season

I'm blogging from my bed. I need a bedrest after my hernia attacked on our last set. It was painful and my hernia "ball" was as big as my thyroid cyst. But luckily we didn't do lots of fast choreographies on our last set. My friend suggested that he'd take me to a doctor next week. But the problem is, my hernia only attacks once in a while. I've had this for 8 years now and I've only seen a doctor for the first time in Cebu last March when it attacked for almost a week. Doctor advised me to have it surgically repaired before it even worsens. But we were already booked to KL and Shanghai so couldn't do it then.

Now I'm thinking about it. My insurance might not cover my medical expenses when I do it in the Philippines because it's just under our company. So I might consider doing it in Malaysia. But I still don't know.

I'm still in the bed right now with my feet up. It helps in suppressing my hernia and definitely good for my legs after dancing for a few hours. Wondering how I'm using my laptop with my feet up? Tricky huh! I'll let you in a little secret.

In Shanghai, Marlou discovered a tool that can help those lazy bums and those who have problems with their back to use their laptops completely lying down, thus straightening the spine. It's made of pipes all connected to make a laptop stand on it's front base, making you feel as if you're just sitting down. You also need a rubberized cord to tie it around the laptop. I know you're confused. So here's a pic of me with it.

PS: Contact Marlou if you're interested about it.

PPS: I can't believe that I can get a wifi signal from the bed though it's idle most of the time. But I still can't believe that the signal from Concorde is that strong! Bravo!!!

Typical jam

This is what I call a typical jam night infront of Shangri-La Hotel. If I don't see a traffic jam like this outside my window during rush hours, it must be a holiday or an unusual day. This is what I missed during the long holiday. The street seemed abandoned and lonely last week. Jalan Sultan Ismail is back on its glory!

Sound (bad)trip

Signus

Signus pronounced as sig'noos. A word that we use in the Philippines that I can't really translate directly to English. Maybe close to "bad omen". November 9 is my mom's birthday and it's also a day which our family calls "signus". Signus is like a dreaded day or a day we all have to be careful about. Usually, we don't travel or do dangerous stuff on this day.

It started out when my grandfather died on this day few years before I was even born, so I wasn't even able to meet him personally. When I was in elementary, one of my uncles die on this day too. I know they might have just been coincidences, but it's going to be a long story when I enumerate stuff that had happened on this or around this day.

Before, we'd just celebrate my mom's birthday having some church or prayer groups in our house to pray for my mom. Now, since everyone in my mom's family is a frustrated singer except me, they'd switch on the karaoke system after the prayer and after eating, open some San Miguel beers, make some "noise" and have a really good time.

Happy birthday to the woman I have admired for her courage and unconditional love. For the strength she has shown and the weakness that she has hidden. For the pure heart she has which has touched a lot of people. For the laughter that's so contagious and a warm hug when I feel sad. For making me what and where I am right now... I thank you, Ma, for everything... I love you so much!

Selamat Hari Raya!

It has been a very busy yet good day for me. It's Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the most important day for Muslims all over the world. In Malaysia, it's celebrated by having open houses for the hosts and going to different open houses for the visitors. They also have "duit raya" or "raya money" to give away, but that only comes from married persons. I miss Selena especially on this day because she was here last year during Hari Raya.

Woke up at 12:30PM today to prepare. At 1PM, we left the hotel. I followed my friend Jeffrey on his car with some of the staff of the lobby lounge, while Marlou followed Nanay Susana. We went to the open house of our "Papa" Jamal and family in Subang. Ate a lot of Malay food, all spicy! Went back to the hotel at 5PM with our friend Edlyn. We rested for a while before I prepared for work. Edlyn went back before we started our first set.

Our Thursday night was good, guess because it was the Hari Raya evening. Guests enjoyed in their seats until 12:45AM.

After work, our friends from Concorde dropped by in the room and we chatted until 7AM. We shared funny stories while we ate pizza & some Raya food we took home from Papa Jamal's open house.

It's Friday afternoon now... hope tonight will be good...

Busy and idle

We've been very busy the past few days because it's festive season in Malaysia right now. Yesterday, I posted something long on my blog but got disconnected while uploading it and lost it along the way. Sayang!

We're having plans to let Selena come here next week that's why we are quite busy arranging her papers. Hope there won't be any problem at all.

Anyway, it was Deepavali yesterday and it's the eve of Hari Raya tonight. Hope oug Lobby Lounge will be busier than last night.

Happy Deepavali & Selamat Hari Raya!
